It's back....

Or will be Monday anyway. I heard dad say the 360 was shipped back from MicroSoft today, and should be here on Monday. I am looking forward to it, so I can sit down at his feet, and get my head scratched between his Call of Duty games. With the xbox down, he has been getting things done about the house, so I have to follow him (It's a dog thing)

Well off to bed, Dad will wake me for breakfast about 5:00 in the morning, and I need my beauty sleep.

One vacation ends and another starts.

Vacation is over, and now my fall/winter/spring vacation starts. Mom and Dad took the two biped puppies camping and for four glorious days, and I finally had some piece and quiet.

They went up to Old Hwy 25 campsite and camped out with moms parents. Dad’s parents ran up for the day Friday, and they rented a party barge for half the day for riding the innertube.

Saturday morning they were visited by some Canadian Geese, good thing I was not there! Josh and Meagan enjoyed feeding them some bread.

Saturday they went out to the cliffs and setup a shade tent in the water so they could stay cool and Dad and the bipeds could do some snorkeling and cliff jumping.

Saturday night Josh and dad looked through the telescope and took some photos. Here is one of the big dipper. They came home Sunday afternoon very tired.

My fun however was over when dad got home, and gave me a bath. I glared at him the entire time, to no avail.

My real vacation started today however, with the puppies going back to school! I enjoyed a nice quiet day. I did not have to worry about the puppies stomping though the house jolting me awake with the fear that my tail is going to get stepped on. Or the run by petting that is just enough to distract a dog and get his hopes up. With the bipeds in school and dad at work, it just me and mom. I look forward to those days when she sits on the couch and reads with me laying on the floor getting my head and belly scratched.

It's dead Jim...

Well dad was not a happy camper today. He got three red lights on his X-Box-360, thus signifying its death. This seems to be a common problem with the X-Boxes that were out when it launched, and the event is called the red ring of death. Dad had heard about this possibility, and got the extended warranty so when he called Microsoft, they said they will send a box for him to send it in, and he will get it back in two weeks. He was disappointed, but the biped puppies were crushed. This means they will spend more time with me. That was not a good thing today, I wanted to take a nap, and Dad kept waking me up, by petting me.

Well it is late and dad and mom are still up, but I am going to bed, this old dog is tired.

Flying Trip

Mom and dad returned from a quick trip out of town yesterday, and I do mean quick. They left late Monday afternoon after dad got home and packed up the truck. The biped puppies were dropped off at granny and grandpa’s before hand over lunch. I left at home t guard the house and the back yard from intruders. They drove to Dallas to see a Dr there about Moms headaches. Mom was having a headache yesterday, and that turned out to be a good thing. While talking to mom, he noticed that she was hurting, and started down a path of questions that in the end led to a diagnosis of a type of migraine that he knows how to treat. I don’t remember the name of it, it was a long name with a lot of o’s and u’s in it. The important thing is that they got home late last night and brought me steak from outback as my reward for keeping all the intruders away.

The weekend.

I had a first-rate weekend. Saturday started with mom and dad getting up earlier than usual. They were up by six, scared the mess out of me when they woke me up. They cleaned up the house a bit, so I knew that someone was coming over today. Sure enough granny and grandpa came over at about 7:30 or so to help dad work on the lawnmower. He had struck a rail road spike with the tractor and dented the mowing deck into the blades. The blades made a horrifying noise as they tore through the deck. Grandpa helped dad change out the deck on the tractor, while granny and I kept Mom Company in the nice cool house.

Josh and Meagan walked me out in the front yard a little bit on a leash. It is like they don’t trust me or something. I did see a cat, and just glared at him intently until he went back to the neighbor’s house. The cat did have the audacity to come back and gave me that “I’m better than you because I am not on a leash” look that cats like to give us dogs. Well I took off after him. You should have seen the look on the cats face, he turned and bolted, I could have caught him, but dragging Josh behind me slowed me down. Josh did let go of me so he would not get hurt, but the cat had to much of head start. He ran up a tree, so I marked the tree to let him know I was there. It was about then that dad grabbed me, and everything after that was a blur. I just tune him out anyway.

The best part of the day was dinner. Dad gave me some peanut butter on a cracker because he loves me. However I am starting to think he might have malicious motives. Every time I eat peanut butter, it sticks to the roof of my mouth. I have to curl my lips and work my tongue in and out to lick it off. Dad just rolls with laughter, and the biped puppies also just crying with laughter. Oh well, if that is what it takes to get some of that magnificent peanut butter… it sure beats begging.

Birthdays and Cucumbers

Sorry it has been so long since an update, but it has been just way to hot to do much of anything except sleep in the nice cool house. Mom has been down with a headache for the last few days. I think the stress of her birthday was just to much for her. I can't feel to sorry for her, if you do the math I am in my 70's, and she is still in her lower 30's (for another year anyway).

Mom did treat me today to one of my favorite snacks. I saw her get a cucumber out of the fridge, and I immediately was at her side flashing my brown puppy eyes at her. She peeled it and treated me to the pealing, and I savored every byte. I know it may seem odd to other dogs out there, but I love cucumbers with a passion. Only steak could possibly rank higher on my drool scale.

Well, it is late and I am off to bed, so I can look my best when the biped puppies get up in the morning.
