New Smells

For the last two weeks the family has had some new smells about them. I started with appearance of a new car in the driveway a few weeks ago. Mom and Dad did an extended test drive for a week and half of a Hyundai XG350L. I assume they now own it because as of last Friday the Century has now disappeared. I am looking forward to my first ride in the car with all of its new smells. I do hope they get me an elevated seat so I can stick my head out of the moon roof instead of the window!

The new smells continued on into the weekend. Ethan came over and spent the night with Josh and Meagan on Saturday night. Then Sunday dad came home with a new tractor. It looks like dad got tired of spending more time under the old tractor than on it.

After all of the new smells, I felt a little sick early this morning, and hacked up a big hair ball in front of the patio door this morning. Josh saved my fur, by letting me out before he told dad about it! I owe the biped one!

That about wraps up the new smells, as long as I don’t smell a new puppy things are good!

Vacation Time!

I had a nice and quiet weekend to my self this weekend. Mom, Dad and the two biped puppies took granny and grandpa to a cabin for a peaceful weekend in the woods. The cabin was one of three at LongBow, and is ran by Ben Pearson Jr. His dad was known for his archery and his long bows.

I pawed through some of the pictures that dad took, and while the cabin looked humble from the outside, it was built between a cliff and a large bolder. The inside was made of rock and wood, and a nice rustic feel to it. They say the rule of real-estate is location, location, location and this could not have been more evident. It was the view out of the window of the cabin that was its treasure. From the large picture window you had a wonderful view of a waterfall pouring into a swimming hole. The biped puppies wanted to swim, so dad let them wade in. After returning with numb toes, they agreed that the water was to cold for swimming on this trip. Another reason to go back.

Dad took a lot of pictures as usual, about 300 or so. Even one from on top of the water fall looking down at the cabin! He uploaded a few to the photo website (link on the right). And I have provided a few of them here.

Pissed at Dad.

Ok tonight I have to vent... It started out a good night, dad called me into the den. I thought it was for a nice bite to eat. You know some ham, steak, or even some cheese. But I knew something was up when I saw the big sheet laid out on the floor. By the time I pieced it together it was to late, he had me by the collar. When it was all said and done there was enough hair on the sheet for two more dogs.

As if this was not enough pain and suffering for the week, he picked me up and gave me a bath! Talk about kicking a dog when he is down. The worse part, the absolute worse part of all this is that it is still not over. Dad, nor I, has the patience to do all this one sitting, so I will have to do it again for the touch up work!

Harrumph....

Busted...

Well Easter was a bit different this year. Mom and Dad got busted by Meagan. She looked into a bag of Easter Candy, and wanted to know why they had bought all the Easter stuff!

Dad explained to the biped puppies what the true meaning of Easter was, and the spirit of Easter and spring was always alive and well. Though the tears of a little girl who curiosity caused her to grow up a bit got the best of her, she understood. That mom and dad were just acting at the direction of a larger Easter spirit.

Dad also explained that breaking the spirit in others, causes the spirit to die. Thus if they were to tell others this new information and ruin the Easter sprit in them, they would suffer the loss of the gifts they have become custom to. When asked if they understood what dad was telling them, Josh boiled it down nicely to “If we spoil it for someone, we don’t get candy anymore”

Mom and Dad knew it was time when Josh and Meagan had so much fun helping hide the eggs for the younger kids and taking part of a new kind of joy. They joy in watching the younger faces light up with Easter joy. Mom and Dads theory was validated when tucking them in to bed on Sunday night and hearing the words “This was the best Easter ever dad…”

Surprise Cake

It was another busy weekend for Mom and Dad. Dad worked outside most of the day Saturday and Sunday, and has a nice sun burn his effort. Dad planted three more lotus flowers, this time they have their own containers that he buried in the ground beside the pond. He even spent a couple of hours breaking a hole in an old brick walkway, so one of the containers will fit, I bet he is sore today!

A bit of excitement happened on Saturday when dad had made a cake for his mom, at the request of her sister. To make long story shorter, grandma gave her sister hell last year sending tidbits of red hat things through the mail way before her birthday. Well now she is doing the same thing to grandma, and for this month she got dad’s help.

She was going to buy a cake and have it sent to her, but dad talked her into letting him make it Friday and he could surprise her with it on Saturday. It worked like a charm, dad ran off the bedroom and called his aunt, and told her to call her sister so she could hear the reaction.

The two biped puppies thought it was all very funny.
