Fire.

You know life would be a lot easier for mom and dad if they would just listen to me more often.

Dad came home the other day and me an all the other K-9's were barking up a storm. We were trying to bring attention to fire in the backyard of a neighbor. Short version of the story is that someone let a leaf fire get out of hand, and before it was all said and done it took part of the woods, an old trailer, and part of the neighbors fence.

The sad story of all of this is that this brought back bad memories for Josh. Last year over Christmas Josh's best friend and his family was caught in a fire. He and his mother did not make it out. All of this came flooding back when he saw the fire. Mom and Dad comforted him and I provided my head in his lap to provide some comfort. However I think the most comfort was provided by a plastic toy. The toy was a gift for Josh, from him, and it helps calm Josh's fear that he will forget. Isn't that the fear of most humans, that they will be forgotten?
